The program of the monthTwelve peopleFour weeks

Twelve people. Four weeks.
One thing you leave with.

One program runs every month at Culture of Sweat, chosen by the studio. Twelve people, a start and an end, a practice with evidence behind it, and something you walk out holding: a habit that held, four pages nobody reads, a letter in the mail, three breathing patterns you keep. Ninety nine for members, 199 for anyone else with four weeks of unlimited rides thrown in. Included, every month, for life, for the founding 50.

Twelve programs a year at 99 is 1,188. Founders pay nothing for any of them, ever.

01 · The ten

November is Reset. December is The Write. January is Dry.

After that the studio picks from the shelf. When a block fills, a second one opens. Every program rides at talk pace unless it says otherwise, and every one ends with the thing you came for and eleven people who watched you do it.

November, opening month

Reset

For everyone who signs up before the doors open. The launch cohort.

Twelve rides done in four weeks, and a habit that holds.

Three rides a week, any number, the bike fit first. Week three the cohort rides together. The twelfth ride is all twelve of you on the thirteen bikes. By the end, showing up is the easy part.

December

The Write

For anyone carrying something into the dark months.

Four pieces of writing nobody reads, and a lighter December.

Twenty five minutes at talk pace, fifteen minutes of writing at the lounge table, five of silence. What happened. What it did to you. What you would say to them. What you keep.

January

Dry

For the sober curious, and anyone whose Saturday night is a bar.

Four weeks without a drink, and a Saturday night that is not a bar.

Morning Rave the first Saturday. Your Song the second. A Saturday 8 p.m. ride in place of the bar on the hard week. The last Saturday is the cohort's own night. Not treatment: if you drink heavily every day, see a doctor before you stop.

On the shelf

Breath School

For the anxious, the hockey parents, anyone who wants a skill they keep.

Three slow breathing patterns you can do anywhere, and your own numbers.

One pattern a week on the climbs: resonance, the long exhale, the box, then your own. One session is the same, lying down. You log your own numbers from your own watch.

On the shelf

Sleep

For shift workers, new parents, the 3 a.m. people.

One wake time held for 28 days, and twenty minutes of rest you can do awake.

Two easy rides a week that end twenty minutes lying down, awake, a paper log, the same wake time every day. We say rest, and a wake time you keep. Nothing else is promised.

On the shelf

Kind

For the self critical and the burned out carers.

Four people you were kind to on purpose. One of them is you.

Four people held in mind on four climbs. One card a week to someone, the week two card to yourself, kept. Mirrors off on week two.

On the shelf

Look Up

For the stressed who stopped noticing anything.

A smaller week and four photographs.

One Look Up ride a week, one fifteen minute walk on your own, one photograph to the cohort. At the end of the ride, you look up.

On the shelf

You and Me

For couples, old friends, siblings, two colleagues. Pairs.

Thirty six questions answered, and one person who knows you better.

Four rides side by side, nine questions a ride asked on the climbs and answered on the flats, one shared card after each. Closeness, not repair.

On the shelf

Founders

For Nanaimo's small business owners and the people about to be.

Four operating lessons in your own hand, and a room of owners who know your name.

A Tuesday ride, then twenty minutes at the lounge table on one lesson: the offer, the first customer, the system, the number that matters. Education only.

On the shelf

Moms

For mothers of young children.

Four hours that were only yours, and eleven women who know what that costs.

The same slot each week, booked in one go. A card at the door for what you put down. Week three you choose the music. First call on the slot next month.

02 · The shape

Every program has the same four weeks.

Two touches a week: one program ride, and one thing you do on your own. Every program puts one number or one thing on the wall in the room, first names only.

Week oneArrive

The cohort meets. Names. One line on a card that says why you came. The practice is taught once, plainly.

Week twoSettle

The practice repeats. The first number you own goes on the wall.

Week threeCarry

The hard week. You do the practice without the coach leading it.

Week fourLand

The card from week one, read back. The thing you leave with. The next month, named.

$1,188

Twelve programs a year at 99 each. The founding 50 pay nothing for any of them, for as long as they are members.
